The hero is usually the LCP
If the first viewport is a photograph or a canvas animation, that is your LCP candidate. We size it, compress it, and never hide it behind a client-only mount.
Fixed headers need a reserved offset. Measuring --header-h from the real bar is cheaper than guessing 104px and watching the page jump.
