Software & App Development
Web Design & Development
Websites, web applications, customer portals and internal tools built around clear user journeys. Design, implementation, testing and release support in one agreed scope.

Who brings us web projects
Your website or browser-based product needs to do more than a template or site builder allows, such as sign-in, customer accounts, dashboards or custom tools, without becoming slow or hard to change.
- Founders launching a SaaS product or customer portal used in the browser
- Marketing teams whose site needs features a theme or site builder can't support
- Operations teams replacing shared spreadsheets and email threads with an internal web tool
From marketing site to SaaS platform
We design and build websites and broader web applications: customer and B2B portals, internal tools, booking systems and business dashboards. The work connects clear navigation and accessible interfaces to the data and actions users need. Next.js, React and TypeScript are options where suitable. A subscription product with a first-release roadmap belongs on our SaaS & MVP Development page; existing code needing wider repair starts with an assessment.
AI-assisted, expert-led web development
How AI assists
- Implementing pages, components and API routes, and refactoring older code, from scoped tasks
- Exploring layout and component variations within your design system for designers to choose from
- Drafting unit and end-to-end tests, and scanning pages for accessibility and performance issues
- Drafting deployment configuration and summarizing build logs and error reports
What our experts own
- Engineers choose the architecture, rendering approach and hosting, and review every change before merge
- Designers own user journeys, responsive layouts, accessibility and visual consistency
- QA validates forms, sign-in, roles, permissions and other important workflows across browsers
- DevOps controls releases and monitoring, and people approve every change to production
What you receive
What we deliver for your website or web app
Responsive, accessible interface
Mobile-first layouts and interaction states built from the approved designs, checked against WCAG guidance on real browsers and devices.
Next.js and React application
Server rendering or static generation chosen page by page, typed TypeScript code and a component structure your team can extend.
SEO-ready technical foundation
Semantic HTML, metadata, structured data, sitemaps, clean URLs and redirects, so search engines can crawl and understand every page.
Content your team can edit
A headless CMS such as Sanity or Strapi, or WordPress, with structured fields and previews, so marketing can publish without a developer.
Performance and Core Web Vitals
Image optimization, code splitting, caching and CDN delivery, with Core Web Vitals measured before launch and monitored in production.
Analytics and integrations
Event tracking, consent-aware analytics and connections to your CRM, payment, email or booking tools, documented for your team.
Scope, preparation and support
Start with a defined scope
Scope a website or web application around named journeys, content and permissions. Customer portals, internal tools, booking systems and business dashboards fit here; a first commercial SaaS release has its own SaaS & MVP Development page.
What you provide
Bring the site map or workflows, design and brand assets, content owners, accessibility needs and integration requirements. We identify missing decisions during scoping instead of assuming every page or feature is ready.
Support after delivery
Receive source code, setup and deployment notes, plus a handover for the agreed scope. New features, maintenance and operational support can follow under an agreed plan.
Where each part of your web product runs
Illustrative split for a typical Next.js web app; the real split follows your architecture and data.
In the visitor's browser
- Pages, forms and instant feedback such as field validation
- Interactive parts like filters, charts and editors, loaded only where needed
- Analytics scripts, started only after the visitor's consent choice
- No API keys or pricing rules: anything here can be inspected
On the server and CDN
- Server-rendered and static pages, cached close to visitors
- Sign-in sessions, roles and permission checks for each request
- API routes using server-side keys to call payment or CRM services
- Database, file uploads and background jobs like sending email
- Image resizing and caching at the CDN edge
Your systems and providers
- CRM, ERP or booking system, reached through its API
- Identity provider for staff single sign-on, where used
- Payment provider, so card details stay off your servers
- Analytics and email accounts held in your company's name
Typical web requests
Typical scenarios we scope, not client case studies.
Internal tool to replace spreadsheets
An operations team tracks requests across shared spreadsheets and can't see who approved what. We would build a browser-based tool with sign-in, roles and an approval history, and import the existing sheets so nothing is retyped.
First release of a SaaS product
A founder has a validated idea and a clickable prototype, and needs a first working version with sign-up, team accounts, a dashboard and subscription billing. We would agree a focused scope, build it with Next.js and test each role before real users arrive.
Marketing site that outgrew its theme
A company site built on a theme is slow on phones and can't host the pricing calculator the sales team keeps asking for. We would rebuild the key templates, add the calculator as an interactive component and keep existing URLs working.
How a web project runs
- 01
Discovery and scope
We clarify goals, audiences, pages, content and integrations, then agree the scope, the architecture and which AI tools may work on your code.
- 02
Design and prototype
Designers map journeys and build responsive prototypes, so you review real flows, not static screens, before development starts.
- 03
Build, review and test
Coding agents implement scoped tasks, engineers review every change, and QA runs automated and exploratory tests on each preview.
- 04
Launch and monitor
A controlled release with redirects, analytics and monitoring in place, followed by handover documentation and the ongoing support you choose.
Two ways to work with AI tools
Choose where AI coding agents may process your code while we build. The engineering standard is the same either way.
- Private / Local AI Engineering
Privately hosted models inside infrastructure you control or an agreed isolated environment.

How design, QA and operations connect
Designer-led journeys
Designers map and prototype the journeys that matter most, such as sign-up, contact forms or checkout, before build. AI helps explore options; designers choose, refine and validate them.
QA on the workflows that matter
QA tests forms, sign-in, roles, permissions, payments and other key flows against your requirements, alongside automated regression tests that run on every change.
Controlled deployment
Every change goes through a preview environment and a release pipeline with a rollback plan. Monitoring and error alerts are in place before launch, not after the first incident.
Ongoing improvement
After launch, we can keep the site secure, fast and improving: updates, performance and SEO fixes, and new features, with response terms agreed in a support plan.
Not part of a web project
- Installed iOS or Android apps with push notifications, offline use or device features are a separate build — see Mobile App Development.
- When the core job is selling products or running a multi-editor publishing workflow, Shopify & WooCommerce Development or CMS Development usually fits better.
- Fixing an existing web app that has become risky to change starts with an assessment — see Application Modernization & Stabilization.
- AI features inside your product, such as answers from your documents or a support assistant, are scoped as LLM Integration or AI Chatbots.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much does a website or web app cost?
It depends on the number of templates and features, integrations, content migration and how much custom functionality you need. After a discovery call, we send a proposal with scope, milestones and pricing. You pay for a delivered, tested product and the responsibility that comes with it, not for developer hours or AI tool subscriptions.
How do you protect search traffic when rebuilding a site?
We audit current pages, rankings and backlinks, keep or redirect every important URL, carry over metadata and structured data, and compare crawls of the old and new site before launch. Some movement in rankings is normal after any rebuild, so we monitor search performance closely after release.
Do you host and maintain the site after launch?
If you want us to. We deploy to platforms such as Vercel, AWS or your own servers, with SSL, CDN, backups and monitoring set up. Updates, fixes and support hours are agreed in a support plan. If your team prefers to run the site, we hand over documentation, access and a working deployment pipeline.
Where is our code processed when AI tools are used?
It depends on the development package. With Private / Local AI Engineering, models run on your infrastructure or in an agreed, isolated environment. With Claude Code / OpenAI Codex Engineering, commercial coding agents process code under account terms, retention settings and access we agree before work starts. In both cases, engineers review every change.
Planning a new website or web app?
Tell us what you want to build or replace. We'll recommend an approach and development package, then send a proposal with scope, milestones and pricing.
